 2018 EVENTS

Our 2018 Christmas Evening

The Events year ended on 3rd December with our Xmas evening which this year was held at the Hunworth Bell. This was a really successful evening, and enjoyed by a very large turnout of Members. A great way to close off a busy year.

Sunday 2nd September 2018

Several FAC Members pre-booked their cars into the Sandringham Event that was raising funds for Tapping House. It was an excellent day, weather was hot and sunny and there were loads of stalls and eateries to enjoy. Top of our day by far was the award to Oliver Francis of 3rd place in the Restoration Category. I think we all knew that both Oliver and Grandad Bob had together done a terrific job of restoring the mini cooper, but it was wonderful to hear that formal testament from the Show judges. Oliver received his award from the Mayor of King's Lynn, Nick Daubney, who is also a life long car enthusiast and expert.

Fakenham Farmers Market - Saturday 25th August

Well, hats off to Bob Maple with the star of Saturday's display. A while ago, Bob came across a rather tired looking Sinclair C5. After much work, and with help from Laurie Coburn, Bob has returned the C5 to the road - and it looks great. If anyone gets the chance to have a close-up look, then do so ... WoW! The Farmers Market was another excellent session in the warm sunshine. 10 cars on display and many interesting conversations with shoppers & passers by.

Sunday 17th June 2018

The Club attended the Cars-on-the-Green Event at Bury St Edmunds today. A first for us to be there, but a great day out and likely to become a regular in future years.

Club Night - Wednesday 23rd May 2018

Club Night this month featured a guided tour of the Sculthorpe Moor facility - a terrific place with soooo much to see and learn. A good turnout of 22 was rewarded by an interesting talk and tour by Nigel Middleton, whose gorgeous and recently purchased Morgan took pride of place in the car park. Food at Sculthorpe Mill afterwards rounded off a great evening.

Sunday 22nd April 2018

The annual Pat Pearce drive was once again really well attended with 31 cars including several local Jaguars enthusiastically turning out. We were flagged off by Bob Maple from The Bistro in Fakenham market place mid-morning, and took a circular route to Briarfields in Titchwell for an excellent lunch stop. After lunch we resumed the drive, and took our next food - tea / coffee & cakes at Pensthorpe. A great day out although a couple of breakdowns will leave added memories for 2 of the 31.

Sunday 18th March 2018

The snow tried hard to dissuade us, but the drive for lunch at The Crown at Rudham still went ahead. The roads were mostly clear of snow, but one small lane approaching Rudham did cause some amusement as a few of the older Classics slalomed downhill! 37 arrived at The Crown for lunch, and enjoyed another good session of food, drink and chat. Where was that good weather?

Saturday 24th February 2018

The Club breakfast at The Dial House, Reepham was very well attended and we filled the back room. The breakfast itself was excellent, as was the banter and fair to say we all are looking forward to some decent weather to get the older cars out and about - without salty roads.

Sunday 18th February 2018

The Club Winter walk is always a bit of a gamble on the weather, but Dennis & Lyn got this one spot on.The day was bright and sunny with a slight breeze, so the walk alongside the marshes on the sea bank from Thornham to Holme was wonderful. 19 members in suitable attire stretched their legs, with 18 having lunch at The Lifeboat afterwards. A terrific day out - and the organisation of the weather by Dennis and Lyn was remarkable. (photos by courtesy of Ray Davies)

Saturday 27th January 2018

Our breakfast meeting was just the job on a cold and mucky January morning. Lyn and Dennis arranged for the get together at Thaxters of Dersingham, and 22 members enjoyed a really good typical English breakfast. The first real session of 2018, and a great opportunity to catch up with each other again - and to anticipate the Events lined up for the year.

Club Night - 24th January 2018

Some pretty miserable weather resulted in a low number of attendees this evening, but those who could make it were fascinated by the presentation made by The Fakenham Fitzroy Centre - which is our chosen Charity for 2018. The support provided by the Centre from their Fakenham base is quite astonishing, and we are proud to be supporting them through 2018.
