2021 EVENTS

The final event of the year, the Christmas Dinner, was held at Hamptons at the Barn, Bawdswell, last night. It was great to see 42 members in attendance, all of whom were treated to some excellent food and service, courtesy of the lovely people at Hamptons. Heather produced her usual impressive raffle and a good time was had by all, ending this difficult year on a high note.

There were 26 attendees, all of whom enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and some welcome social contact at Hamptons, Bawdeswell. With grateful thanks to David for organising the event and to the staff at Hamptons for looking after us so well. Looking forward to the Christmas dinner that will be held there next month. Despite the cold weather we had a few classics turn up.

Another fun-packed Quiz Night at Q’s. There were eight teams of four people competing and first place went to the Petrol Heads, Bob and Lynne Maple's team and the runners up were a family outfit by the name of Weatherill ....! Heather did an amazing job (as usual) of organising the raffle which, combined with a contribution from the entry fees, raised £289 for, Fitzroy, our current charity. Q’s deserve a big ‘thank you’ from us for providing excellent food and service and especially Tracey for setting the questions and compering the evening. Thanks to Mike for organising this event.
27th October 2021, Club Night
As the FAC's 2021 events list begins to draw to a close, David Hyatt's talk about his fascinating career was a highlight of the year. An enthralled full house at the Gallow listened to David’s insight into his time working in F1 teams, their workloads and the seemingly impossible tasks they often had to face. What better job could one have? How about flying around the world, buying supercars for a Middle East multi-millionaire and then looking after that collection? We were treated to lots of amazing photos and the stories behind them. Everyone enjoyed themselves and there were many complimentary comments about the evening. One thing is for sure, David is going to be a hard act to follow! David currently lives in Norfolk and, amongst other things, runs a restoration and inspection service for classic cars.
6th October 2021
Dennis and Mike were invited to the Fitzroy Centre this morning to attend the opening of their new Sensory Room.
29th August, 2021
The Lavenham Classic Car Show was well attended this year. There were plenty of interesting cars including a stunningly pristine Mustang and, for a contrast, some excellent and very wonky buildings to enjoy. Several FAC members attended and thanks to Jack for organising the event. The weather took the opportunity to remind us that the summer is fading and autumn is edging in!
Saturday, 28th August 2021
Our monthly meeting, held this time at Pensthorpe. Six cars attended, including Dennis and Brian and Mike.
The Mike Tomlin Run - again
Some more photos from the run, kindly provided by Karen, Mike's daughter. We are delighted that Karen has accepted honorary lifetime membership of the FAC and we look forward to seeing her again next year.

It was a great day out at the North Norfolk Railway Vintage Transport Day. Free trains rides from Holt to Sheringham and back were given to all drivers and free half-hourly bus rides were available to all. Several FAC members enjoyed the range of vehicles on display in the sunshine, and the event was very well organised as usual.

Jim organised the club’s breakfast outing yesterday to The Old Dairy at Stanfield. It was a great choice of venue and the 30 members who attended were treated to some excellent food. The staff were very helpful and efficient and the club is sure to return there before long. Brian presented a cheque for the money raised at the Charles Clarke Run to NANSA, its adopted charity (https://www.nansa.org.uk).
1st August, 2021
The inaugural Mike Tomlin Run started at Pensthorpe Natural Park, which had kindly opened early for us to enjoy a pre-run coffee. There was a very good turnout by the FAC which was bolstered by several Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club members. Brian and Geoff had prepared an excellent route through some of Norfolk’s loveliest countryside, arriving at Caley Hall Hotel for lunch at midday. We were very fortunate to have, Karen, Mike Tomlin’s daughter with us who presented the trophy for the most desirable car to Robert and Sarah Lomax for their gorgeous E-Type. In turn, Lyn presented Karen with a bouquet from a grateful FAC Committee. The afternoon was rounded off by drive back to Pensthorpe for some well-deserved tea and cake!
Many shiny Jaguars were in evidence, thanks to the JEC
Many members enjoyed a coffee, one had a Cappuccino!
The proud Trophy winners! It was entirely appropriate that the award went to a red E-Type as that was Mike Tomlin's classic of choice.

The first 'proper' FAC event of the year! The evening drive and meal at Benny's American Diner was attended by sixteen members who braved the ominous weather forecast. As it happened, the weather could have been described as 'could be worse'! We arrived at Benny’s at 7:00pm and they had prepared complimentary onion rings for each table. The food was excellent, extremely good value for money, and everyone said how much they enjoyed the evening. Perhaps we’ll make this a regular event....

A great day out yesterday on the Charles Clarke Rally. Seventy-five cars, an 80-mile scenic drive, lots of friends and £1300 raised for the NANSA charity. Among the entrants were many FAC members. The weather was (mostly!) kind to us too.
